Free QR code generatorFood trucks and pop-ups

A QR code for your food truck menu. Free, and it never expires.

Point it at your menu and print it for the window. No account, no trial, and nothing that stops working halfway through the season.

What should it open?

The code holds this address itself, with no link of ours in between, so nothing can expire. It is made in your browser: what you type stays there.

How much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan. Higher levels make the pattern denser. Automatic picks the lowest level that is safe for your design.

What to point the code at

Any address that shows your menu: a page on your site, a post, a file you have put online. Paste it in above and the code is ready.

If your menu is a photo on your phone or a board on the side of the truck, you do not have an address yet. Build the menu here and you get one, with ordering built in. A free account can also hold a PDF menu and give you a code for it.

Where it goes on the truck

One code can go in several places. Put it where people are standing still.

  • Beside the window, at eye level for the person ordering
  • On a sandwich board a few steps back, so the queue can read while it waits
  • On the side that faces passing traffic, for people deciding whether to stop
  • In your Instagram bio and event listings, where the same address works as a link

How big to print it

A code should be at least a tenth as wide as the distance it is scanned from. For someone at the window, half a metre away, 5 cm is enough. For the queue, two metres back, print it 20 cm across. For a sign people read from across a car park, go bigger than feels reasonable.

Keep it dark on a light background, leave the white margin around it, and put it on a flat panel: a code wrapped over a curve or a rivet line is hard to read. Download the SVG for anything a print shop will enlarge.

When the menu changes

A static code is fixed to one address. That is fine as long as the address stays put and you change the menu behind it.

If the menu might move to a new address, use a dynamic code. It is free with an account, and you can re-point it from your phone without reprinting anything.

Let the queue order while it waits

A menu built here is one people can order from. They pick what they want, see one total with tax, and pay you in Cash App, Venmo, PayPal or Zelle with the amount already filled in. You see the payment land, confirm it with a tap, and call the order number.

The money goes straight to you. We take no fee on those payments, and there is no card reader to buy.

More than a code

Putting it on a menu? Make it a menu customers can order and pay from.

    Add your items

Photos, sizes, sections and prices, from your phone. Mark something sold out with one switch.

  2. 02

They order from the table or the queue

Customers pick what they want and see one total, with tax, to the cent.

  3. 03

    You are paid directly

Cash App, Venmo, PayPal or Zelle opens with the amount filled in. We take no fee on those payments.

Questions people ask

Is a QR code for a food truck menu really free?

Yes. The code above costs nothing, needs no account and has no scan limit. It holds your menu's address itself, so there is no trial that can end.

Do customers need an app to scan it?

No. The camera on any recent iPhone or Android phone reads QR codes. The menu opens in their browser.

What if there is no signal where I park?

The code itself needs no signal, but opening your menu does. Where coverage is poor, keep a printed menu up as well.

Can I see how many people scan it?

Not with a static code: its scans never reach us. A dynamic code counts scans, and a free account includes 3 of them.

Will sun and rain ruin it?

Paper will fade and curl. For outdoors, print on vinyl or laminate it with a matte finish: gloss throws glare that cameras struggle with.
